We all want to be at peace. But what does that mean? That nothing bad will ever happen to us? That bank accounts will always be full? That we will always get what we ask for? There has to be something more. God tells us that perfect peace comes from knowing God and actually trusting what He says. This isn’t some form of refusal to acknowledge our problems. It’s a lifestyle of remembering that God is in control.
If God is the Lord of your life - meaning that you have turned from your sins and trusted in God to save you - then God promises that “all things work together for good” (Romans 8:28). If God is the Lord of your life, then every single thing in life is for your good. Nothing on earth can actually hurt you. Stop and think about that.
This is why we can be at peace today, because we actually believe what God says. When problems come up, we know that God is doing something that we can’t see. Something will upset you today. When that happens, remember that this is making you better and that this was sent by God for your good. And be at peace.
