Those who belong to God - those who have turned from their sins and believed in Jesus - always have the victory in Christ Jesus. Always, in every circumstance. Do we really believe that? Do we really live like we believe that? What if a loved one just received a diagnosis? What if we are struggling to make ends meet? What if we receive unwarranted criticism? Though it may not feel like it, in every situation in life, God’s people already have the victory.
How can this be true? Life is so hard. This can be true because of Romans 8:28, which says, “God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.” All things! Every single thing in life is working for us. We must notice the two conditions of this promise. This promise is for those 1) who love God and 2) are called by Him. We must remember that this promise is not for everyone. Christianity is not a vague sense of optimism; it’s not a promise that everything will always be totally fine for every single person. God calls people to reject their sin and follow Him – to trust Him with everything. For those who do that, He has promised full and complete victory in every situation.
But, bad things do happen. Does this mean that 1 Corinthians 15:57 and Romans 8:28 are untrue? No, it means that God is greater than our circumstances. So, even when (not if) difficult times come, we know that God has conquered the situation, the end is already worked out, and God is using this challenge to make us better. If you are in Christ, know that you’re already victorious. Your God has already won the victory in the challenge that’s ahead of you today. Just rest, and walk in faith that God has already won the victory and given it to you. Let's walk in the victory that is already ours.
