God, the Creator of all, is holy and without flaw. He’s so holy that no one who has ever done anything wrong can be in right standing with Him – unless Someone Who is perfect takes the punishment on our behalf. We need Someone to make us righteous.
God made a way for fallen humans to be made right in His sight. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me” (John 14:6). God sent His Son to earth to live a sinless life and die the death that you and I deserve. Jesus offers to trade His righteousness for our sin, to take the punishment of our sin and give us His perfection.
So what do we do? Jesus said, “Repent and believe the good news!" (Mark 1:15). To repent means to stop living for yourself, to turn away from the things you’re doing that stand in contradiction to how God told us to live. Ask God to exchange your sin for His righteousness, and trust Him to do that.
To believe that Jesus existed is not enough. James 2:19 says that even the demons believe that. We must repent and believe. Reject your sin. Give it up. Be done with it. Give control of your life over to God, and trust Him to forgive you and to give you a home in heaven. May this necklace serve as a constant reminder to be thankful for the grace that made our forgiveness possible.
