Our world has so much darkness. Hatred, hurt, fear, brokenness, evil. In the middle of that, God sent His Son to be the light, to pay the penalty for the sins of those who believe in Him and hand over control of their lives to Him.
Just as Jesus is the light of the world, so His people are called to be as well. Instead of hiding from the darkness, God calls us to reflect His light into the darkness. It’s so much easier to either hide from the darkness or to try to bury the light God gives us and just act like everyone else for the sake of not making things awkward.
But God calls us to do something much more difficult – to be light to the world. People who don’t know God can’t see God, but they can see you.
What would it look like if you and I radiated the light of God wherever we went? We’d forgive the moment we were wronged. We wouldn’t hold a grudge. We would genuinely seek the betterment of others before ourselves. We wouldn’t try to hold onto our way of doing things. We wouldn’t get upset about the little things because we trust that Jesus has a home prepared for us for all of eternity. We’d see people for who they really are – souls in need of a Savior.
Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus to our world today. There could be no higher calling.
